Question
How can I move my site from one host provider to an other and not lose anything?
I need the step by step guidance!
Answer Provided
To give you a step by step instructions a little more information is required.
But before we get into that, the easiest way to transfer a site
completely from one host to another is from the server side.
Ask your new host if they can clone your site on your new
service. Most of them will do this for you and if you are going
from a Cpanel host to a Cpanel host it will include everything
including your email addresses and databases.
But if your new host can’t do this then for me to give you
a step by step I need to know a couple of things.
What type of hosting do you have and what are you moving
too? If you aren’t sure about this we’ll need the names of the hosting
services and the accounts you have to check this out.
Do you have any databases (besides wordpress) on the site?
Do you have any addon or parked domains?
Do you have access to phpMyAdmin?
Do you have email addresses on your current domains that
need to be moved to the new one?
That is a good starting point but there might be some more
questions once we get going.
Now for a quick overview of what you will need to do.
You will have to download all the files from your current
domain to your computer via FTP.
You will have to backup all your databases.
On your new domain you will have to upload all the files,
restore the databases, put you emails back in and re-point
the domain name to the new servers.
Again your best bet is to ask you new service provider to
move it for you, most will do it either free or for a small fee.
