Trying to get a business established, that’s any business but particularly an online version can be extremely stressful at times. I’ve been talking about blogging instructions and their worth rather than simply flying by the seat of your pants (who ever thought of that saying?) and have received stacks of comments and email from people who hit a “technical” barrier and find they can’t move on.
Time to de-stress.
I don’t normally link to non-related subjects but this morning I was feeling particularly stressed as I turned on the PC (I’ll explain in a moment) and for some reason decided to Stumble for a while as a program whirred away refusing to load!
The first site I Stumbled was this one (I love photography which is why this was served up). I also find Enya very relaxing. I’ll rephrase that – I find her voice very relaxing, she may be an absolute nightmare to be with – I have no idea! You may need to move the volume control at the bottom right of photographs.
If you click the “Outstanding Photography” link below the site I was looking at will open in a new window and you can listen as you read the rest of this post – and then watch the slide show – it really is outstanding. If only I could take photographs like that!
Back to the stress!
In the past week I’ve had Blogging Beginner members tell me about virus attacks, hackers, PC failures, modem failures, cable company problems, crashes and lost data.
As I was trying to complete the video for “How To Create An e-Book” I had the pdf software start to do strange things. Adobe Acrobat also chose to upset me.
I had phones start to ring in the middle of recording, I had people turn up and burst through the door as I was in full flow.
Sometimes the time is just not right! No matter what blogging instructions you give yourself or follow, sometimes the universe tells you it’s time you should be doing something else. So yesterday, I just stopped. I was fighting a battle I was unlikely to win. Time to run!
So this morning I turned on the PC looking forward to a smoother ride. And the program I needed wouldn’t load!
I left it whirring and Stumbled. I played the Slideshow above and let Enya’s voice de-stress me.
When it had finished the program had finally loaded.
The moral in this tale is that we all face challenges everyday. Sometimes we blow them out of proportion – ever been late and found that every red light is against you, there’s a jam where the traffic normally flows, the old guy who never goes faster than 10 miles an hour is in front and you can’t get past. Yes, I know you have. But when you’re not late you often don’t even notice these things.
Business will always throw obstacles in the way. An online business is not different to any other kind of business. It’s just the problems often seem to be technology based. But then personally I prefer that to say blocked toilets that might have to be sorted if you worked in the “real” world!
If you’re running an internet based business I think it is imperative to learn about your tools (technology). As soon as you feel at ease and know they will go wrong but you have a plan to deal with the resulting issues you’ll find the situation isn’t as stressful.
But then sometimes, like I did, you have to just accept that today isn’t a good day to be dealing with challenges.
Take a step away – de-stress and come back rejuvenated. There my non-blogging instructions for today.
Don’t forget, if you like great photographs – these are outstanding…

Great post and better photographs. As a photographer these images speak to me. And as a BB member, I understand the days with ups and downs.
When I have these days where the computer acts up and things just don’t quite click I remind myself why I chose blogging, what I have learned and the progress I have made. Right now I am at that stage where I feel I need one more step for things to really click and where I speed up everything, but its hard to take that step.
But after a break with ice cream, I’ll remember that guy who says “do it now” and get back to work. Might have to look at those stunning photos one more time though. Denise

I know what you mean – there is always an elusive “next step”. In fact that is the great thing about life. As long as there is always something to learn and something you want to learn you are truly alive. When that enthusiasm stops…
The challenge with business, but in particular online is the pace at which things move. There’s always something new to consider. Whether it is necessary for each person is another matter.
Glad you liked the photographs – I thought you in particular would appreciate them.
Great post! Things usually act up when I have the most to get done and that old guy that never does more than 10 mph is ALWAYS in front of me.
You forgot to throw in that the, “Grouchy Old Hermit” was bugging you for a script for a video at the same time.
Take the next couple of days off and then, “Do It Now!”
By the way this post moved you up on Google for blogging instructions you are about ready to bump me
Randy The Hermit’s last blog post..Blog Money – Is there such a thing?
How he gets from the UK to VI and back at 10 mph I’ll never know but he sure does
Glad to hear I’m putting the pressure on again. I think a few articles would help. Must get writing!
